WTA PROFILE
Mirjam is thrilled to announce that she is joining the J.Lindeberg team, as their first tennis ambassador! She will wear their first raquet apparel collection ever at the Australian Open 2022.
After a great week In Spain Mirjam played very good in Koksijde, Belgium in front of a large and very engaged crowd! She had some very tough matches, and won 4 out of 5 matches in three sets to win the title, her second 25K title, and 7th ITF title so far.
Mirjam spent her birthday in Germany, but will have a week off in Spain together with her family at her beloved grandmother´s. She hasn’t seen her for 2 years because of Covid-19 so it will be an emotional encounter!
Mirjam was the last player to get into main draw of the 60.000$ tournament in Versmold (Germany) and made the most out of it by reaching the semifinals in singles and finals in doubles with partner Jaimee Fourlis.
Mirjam and Leonie are the champions of the doubles tournament in Båstad ”Nordea Open”!
It is both girls first ever WTA125 title, and they are happy they decided to play together as they really enjoyed it and played well together. They defeated the second and the third seeded couples. In the finals they played against Kamilla Rakhimova (WTA #126) & Tereza Mihalikova (WTA #162) and won by 5-7, 6-3, 10-5.
Mirjam and Leonie won the semifinal against the second-seeded couple Lister/Routliffe 2-6, 6-2, 11-9. After losing the first set and being down 0-2 in the second, they found a winning tactic and won 6 straight games. In the tiebreaker they played aggressive and saved one match point at 8-9. The girls are having fun together and are thrilled to be in the finals!
Mirjam didn’t need any wild cards to get into the main draws of Båstad (singles and doubles). On Monday July 5, she and her Swiss partner Leonie Kung were scheduled to play doubles but due to rain the match was postponed until Tuesday, like her singles match. She played against a tough opponent, Aliona Bolsova (WTA#151) from Spain and gave all she had but lost 6-2, 6-2. In the doubles they played against two Swedish girls, Fanny Östlund and Vanessa Ersöz. Mirjam and Leonie have never played together and after some adjustments they found their aggressive game and won 7-5, 6-2. In the quarterfinals they won by walk over so they will play the semifinals on Friday. It will be Mirjam’s first ever WTA semifinals and she is looking forward to playing another match in Båstad!
Mirjam will play Nordea Open starting July 5 and is excited to play in front of her home crowd again! Last year the tournament was cancelled, but two years ago Mirjam clinched her first match-win on the WTA tour in Båstad. Mirjam loves playing in Båstad, the tournament has been awarded “best tournament of the year” many times, and she hopes to see many fans again!
Due to an injury, Mirjam had to retire in the first round against Carole Monnet from France. She will get treatments and rest in order to be ready for the upcoming events this summer.
